CHAPIN, S.C. (WOLO)– The Chapin High School Girls Lacrosse team has won the class 5A state championship.

The Eagles defeated Fort Mill 13-4 to win the championship on Saturday, April 27 at W.C. Hawkins Stadium.

School officials say it was the second championship for the Lady Eagles who also defeated Fort Mill for the 2019 title to complete an undefeated season.

“I am over the moon ecstatic for this team,” Head Coach Raven Thomas said.

Coach Thomas says the team has been cultivating something extremely special since the seniors were freshmen and knew this year was it.

“We stepped onto the field this year with the confidence that this was our year to win it all and we put in all the work needed to ensure it happened. I am so proud of this team and love them beyond words. It’s been an amazing ride,” Coach Thomas said.
