Columbia’s Solid Waste Division offering expedited trash collection services
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The city’s Solid Waste Division is building off last year’s success and expediting trash collection again this year for move outs, says officials.
The division says they experience large increases in bulk item collections during the spring and summer months due to college students moving out from rental properties.
Because the city is focused on efforts to beatify the city, expedited collection services are being offered from May 1 through July 31.
Residents are encouraged to call the Solid Waste main office at 803-545-3800 to report they have a pile for collection which will be collected within 24 to 48 hours.
Items in these piles can include, but not limited to:
- Clothing
- Dishes, kitchen tools and utensils
- Furniture
- Bedding
- Storage bins
- Artwork or wall hangings
- Mops, brooms or other cleaning tools
- Bulky plastics (i.e. coolers, buckets or bathroom garbage pails)
