Batesburg-Leesville police: Person wanted in connection with weekend shooting arrested

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WOLO)– Officers with the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department are asking for the public’s help finding someone wanted in connection with a weekend shooting, says the department.

On Friday, May 10, officers responded at an Exxon located at 102 South Pine Street for the report of a shooting.

When officers arrived to the scene, an adult male was found in an adjacent parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Lexington Medical Center for a non-live-threatening injury, says law enforcement.

18-year-old Da’Jae Wigfall, of Batesburg-Leesville was identified as a suspect and is currently wanted.

Wigfall’s charges are assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say Wigfall should be considered armed and dangerous.
