Advocacy group goes on statewide neighborhood engagement tour

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A local community advocacy group visited Columbia over the weekend, kicking off its statewide neighborhood engagement tour.

State Representatives Jermaine Johnson and the group “Gangs In Peace” are traveling to 10 counties in the state.

The goal is to politically engage people in counties with the lowest voter turnout and highest crime rates.

Organizers highlighted the important of being involved and changing communities through the political process.

The tour will now make its way to Sumter.
