Pharmaceutical company to invest $12.2M in SC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Officials say a pharmaceutical company is creating about 300 new jobs with an investment in Clarendon County.

Gov. Nikki Haley and Commerce Department officials said Wednesday that Spirit Pharmaceuticals was building a new facility in Clarendon County, investing a total of about $12.2 million.

Spirit CEO Ajoy Joshi says the company is building a new packaging and manufacturing facility in Summerton. Officials say the new building should be operational by early next year.

Spirit makes a range of generic pharmaceuticals for retailers like Walgreens, Dollar Tree and CVS.
