Hurricane Matthew Aftermath

Columbia, S.C (WOLO) — Officials continue keeping a close eye on the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew and what it’s left behind. Many still working to pick up the pieces. In fact, State officials say they’re specifically focused on the Waccamaw River.

It’s currently at flood stage because of Hurricane Matthew. Experts say the river may crest sometime later this week which could cause more flooding concerns in the area already impacted.

Many residents remain in shelters as crews work to clear debris.

60 roads and 16 bridges remain closed after that storm ripped though the area.
