Pedestrian hit and killed by CSX train in Irmo

IRMO, S.C (WOLO) – A pedestrian pronounced dead after being struck by a CSX train, according to police.

According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, at around noon CSX train company alerted deputies that a train was believed to have struck something on the railway tracks.

After deputies arrived on scene, it was discovered a pedestrian was fatally hit on the tracks around Dutch Fork Road.

This incident is under investigation.
