Veterans May Have to Return Bonus

Columbia, S.C (WOLO) — Some of our country’s bravest who’ve put their lives on the line in battle, may soon face another fight to keep bonuses given to them years ago to re-enlist.

According to The Department of Defense,  the loans given to Military men and women about 10 years ago, were only for certain assignments.  But that’s not how they were dispersed. Instead, they were given to most soldiers in order to get them to re-enlist during the war in Iraq and cover loan forgiveness.

Some soldiers say the burden is a slap in the face after they’ve given their time, and being forced to give thousands in money back with interest.
