TSA had 2nd busiest day ever on Thursday

(CNN)– Thursday was the second busiest day at airports in the United States ever.

The Transportation Security Administration says it screened 2.93 million passengers that day.

It ranks second to the Sunday after Thanksgiving last year, which is typically the busiest travel day of each year.

TSA said 5 of its 10 busiest days ever were this month, a sign that travel is ramping up headed into the Summer rush.

The agency predicts today will see even higher numbers than Thursday.
