COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– As trick or treaters go door to door on Halloween, officials want to make sure everyone stays safe.

ABC Columbia’s Gabrielle Franklin has more on what you need to know when heading out the door on Halloween.

Richland County Sheriff’s Deputies say  “you can go to the website at rcsd.net and look at our sex registry offender list and you’ll be able to find out which homes that you should not go to.”
Safety officials also urge caution with costumes.

“little ones out trick or treating a couple things we want to make sure they do is they’re dressed appropriately, nothing that would cause them to be a trip hazard, for the little girls wearing the dresses , those are kind if things we caution for as well as being flammable.”

And wear something with light reflection that helps people see you in the dark.
