City of Columbia discuss potential service center for the homeless

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The City of Columbia held a public session on Monday, June 17, to get community input on a potential service center for the homeless in the city.

According to leaders, Columbia’s unsheltered numbers continue to be a concern.

Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, the city council, and leader want to work together with residents on a comprehensive plan to best provide services to the homeless population.

The mayor says if approved by the community, planners would still have to find a sit to start construction.
