COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Lower Richland High School student-athlete was named an All-American at the Adidas Track Nationals over the weekend.

Lower Richland High School student-athlete Jhnai Sumter was named an All-American at the Adidas Track Nationals that were held on June 14 through June 16 in North Carolina.

Sumter placed third overall in the javelin championship competition and eighth in the shot-put national elite competition.

“I feel good about being named an All-American. I really succeeded at a big level. It was a good experience knowing that I was going against different competitors and seeing what it’s like to be on a top level,” said Sumter, who will begin her junior year at Lower Richland in August.

In May, Sumter won the 2024 Class AAA individual state championship title in girls shot-put.

In addition to competing in track and field, the athlete is also a member of Lower Richland’s girls basketball, cross country and tennis teams.
