Richland County deputies asking for public’s help finding person involved in chase that killed K9 officer
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies are asking for the public’s help finding a person involved in the chase that killed K9 Officer Wick, says the department.
Authorities say the individual stole a work van from the 1600 block of Ogden Street on Wednesday, June 19.
In the early morning hours of Thursday, June 20, the stolen van was spotted being operated in the same area it was taken from.
RCSD attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused. Deputies say after successfully using stop sticks, the driver got out the vehicle and continued the chase on foot.
During the foot chase, K9 Wick was hit by a vehicle and killed. Richland County Sheriff’s Department investigators believe the driver of the van is the same individual who stole the van.
