Burn Ban In Effect
Anderson, S.C. (WOLO) — If you noticed a smokey haze covering the Midlands Wednesday you were not alone. The Forestry Commission says the heavy smoke was caused by wildfires burning in part of Georgia and North Carolina.
Officials say dry conditions and winds led to the spread of the fires and the smoke it created.
Those wildfires have for the Forestry Commission to enforce a burn ban in parts of the Upstate. Those in Anderson, Greenville, Oconee, Pickens and Spartanburg are under the ban which prohibits outdoor burning including yard debris, and burning for forestry, wildlife or agricultural purposes.
