RCSD: Former deputy arrested for DUI

According to RCSD, 34-year-old Michael Kennedy was arrested on Thursday, July 11, for a DUI by the West Columbia Police Department.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A former Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputy was arrested for a DUI on Thursday, says RCSD.

According to RCSD, 34-year-old Michael Kennedy was arrested on Thursday, July 11, for a DUI by the West Columbia Police Department.

Kennedy was immediately suspended without pay and is no longer employed, announced the sheriff’s department.

He had been with the sheriff’s department since August 2023.

“We are all responsible for the decisions we make and therefore the consequences that come from those decisions. My deputies know if they violate the law they will be held accountable,” Sheriff Leon Lott states.
