Possible phone ban in SC schools could happen

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A ban on cellphone use could be coming to all South Carolina schools.

The Department of Education is working on a new policy for the next school year.

The General Assembly is requiring school districts to implement it so they can keep state funding.

Officials day the State Board of Education plans to approve the new policy in August.

The hope is that school districts will implement the policy as early as possible with January 2025 as the target date.
