Tractor Supply honors Sumter veteran farmer with grant for small business

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter veteran and local farmer has been awarded a grant to support his farm, according to a press release.

Tractor Supply says Veteran Kenzie James in Sumter, South Carolina was awarded a $1,000 grant to support his farm, Relinoca Farms, LLC.

The grant is part of Tractor Supply’s $100,000 donation to FVC’s Fellowship Fund, which provides direct assistance to veterans in their beginning years of farming or ranching.

James is one of 50 veterans to receive a $1,000 Tractor Supply gift card to purchase items crucial to supporting their farm business.

Relinoca Farms, LLC is a small plant nursery owned by James and his wife, Charlotte James that specializes in growing plant starts for herbs and vegetables, and native and naturalized
perennials and pollinator plants.

With the funds, James plans to finalize the purchase of 8 plus acres adjacent to their current plant nursery and to automate current operations by installing drip irrigation, according to the press release.

Prior to launching Relinoca Farms, LCC, he served in the Air Force for 18 years.

“Our longstanding support for veterans is rooted in our Mission and Values,” said Marti Skold-Jordan, manager of the Tractor Supply Company Foundation. “Agriculture offers a sense of
purpose and opportunity ideally suited for veterans beginning new careers.
