Coroner: Crash Near Shaw Air Force Base Kills Army Sergeant

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A 1st Army Sergeant, who worked on Shaw Air Force Base, is dead after a tractor trailer logger truck slammed into the driver’s side of his pickup truck at a Sumter County intersection. That’s according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The accident happened around 1:15pm on US 76 at St Paul Church Road. The coroner identified the victim as 40-year-old Bryant Riley. He leaves behind a wife and three children. Troopers say the driver of the tractor trailer disregarded a stoplight. The crash remains under investigation.
