1 arrested, two injured following shooting at Richland County Walmart

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Two people have been injured and one person was arrested after a shooting at a Walmart in Richland County, said RCSD.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Walmart at 120 Killian Road in relation to a possible shooting incident.

When deputies arrived to the Walmart, they saw a vehicle in the parking lot with multiple bullet holes on the driver side.

Deputies said they found a weapon (Glock pistol) outside the vehicle, a bag of green plant-like material on the passenger-side floorboard and another on the ground by the door of the vehicle.

RCSD said they were able to identify the suspect at the scene as 24-year old Matthew Hermz. Hermz suffered from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

During the investigation, law enforcement discovered that Hermz was also involved in the altercation. He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries and later booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Hermz was charged with manufacturing/possession other substance schedule I, II, III, with intent to distribute 1st degree (controlled substance).

Shortly after the shooting, investigators discovered a second victim arrived to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in connection to the shooting location.

The shooting is still under investigation by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
