Trump Announces Ben Carson as HUD Pick

WASHINGTON (AP) _ There’s another cabinet selection coming out of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition office. Former Rival Ben Carson is Trump’s choice to become secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Carson was among the 16 Republican candidates who challenged Trump for the Republican nomination. In a statement, Trump says he’s “thrilled to nominate” Carson, and that the former neuro surgeon “has a brilliant mind and is passionate about strengthening communities and families within those communities.” The Senate will have to approve Trump’s nomination.
