RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A man described by Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott as a career burglar was arrested on Tuesday for stealing cigarettes, cigars, cash and a cash register.

Joseph Joyner Freeman, 48, is charged with second degree burglary and larceny, Lott said.

Authorities with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force and the United States Marshal’s Service arrested Freeman after he allegedly stole the items that totaled $3,700 from a Percival Road grocery store sometime between June 20 and June 21.

Lott said Freeman has a long history of committing burglaries and is glad to get him off the streets.

Freeman is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
