Famously Hot New Year Plans to Step Up Security
More State, County and City Officers Expected to be On-Site
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– This weekend, one of the biggest parties in the Southeast will kick off in Downtown Columbia.
In the wake of foreign and domestic attacks on public gatherings, People around the nation are increasing security for New Year’s Eve events . The Famously Hot New Year in Columbia is no exception.
“There will be a bomb sweep on Saturday before the event in the downtown area. There are only two points of entry and everybody has to go through security,” began FHNY Co-Chair Laura Basille. “Every bag has to be checked. We do have increased city, county, and state law enforcement this year as well as private and even plain-clothes security.”
If you and your family plan to bring in the New Year here on Main Street, law enforcement suggest that you get a clear bag to put your items in. This way, you will avoid hang ups in the security lines.
