3 year old abandoned during Anderson County car theft

Mauldin, SC (WOLO) — The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an individual accused of stealing a car with a toddler inside. According to the Sheriff’s Office Thursday afternoon a man stopped at the Spinx gas station along East Butler Road in Maudlin South Carolina. Officials say the man went into the convenience store while he left his car running with his 3 year old inside. When he returned to the car deputies say his car was gone, along with the toddler still inside.

Deputies say the suspect stopped the car after leaving the convenience store and removed the child from the car before driving off leaving the child.  Anderson County Deputies say the child was later found safe.  Authorities say the suspect led various agencies on a chase before he crashed into a tree and ran from the car near Old Pendleton and Sterling Roads between Powersville and Easley.

With the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies and K-9 officials deputies say they were able to apprehend the suspect along Stillwater Drive in Powersville, South Carolina.

Anderson County Sheriff’s continue investigating the incident tonight.
