Balancing one sport at an SEC level is difficult enough, yet Brandon McIlwain showed excitement for his second season with the Gamecocks baseball program.
The USC quarterback and outfielder is solely focusing on his work with on the diamond this spring season, not partaking with Will Muschamp’s spring program while following schedules that’s been worked on and agreed upon by both sports’ coaches.
While just wrapping his freshman year on the gridiron, McIlwain’s entering his sophomore season of eligibility with Chad Holbrook’s squad. He had 10 at-bats a year ago, playing in eight games. His lone hit was an RBI single in a 16-4 May victory over The Citadel.
