Man Arrested After Firing Rifle Inside Midlands Home

COLUMBIA, S.C.(WOLO)-  A 24-year-old man is facing several criminal charges after damaging a victims home during a home invasion on Friday night.

Deputies with the Richland County Sheriffs department said a man armed with an assault rifle went inside a home in the 200 block of Ault Road in Hopkins around 9:30 p.m. and demanded a victims cellphone.

The suspect, started breaking things inside the home and fired into the ceiling, authorities said. When another victim came home the suspect pointed the gun at him and fired multiple times in the air before fleeing the area.

Deputies said the suspect, Christopher Tyree Anderson, was found in 200 block of Acie Avenue.

Anderson is being charged with pointing and presenting a weapon and malicious injury to property.
