Man Shot Dead in Columbia, One Person Detained

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- One man was killed and a suspect is in custody after a shooting Sunday morning on Piney Grove Road.

Richland County Sheriff Deputies responded to a shots fired call just after 4:00 a.m. in the 1300 block of Piney Grove Road. Deputies located an unresponsive male victim inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Authorities said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Very shortly after the call went out deputies located a suspicious vehicle near the scene and initiated a traffic stop. One person has been detained as a result and deputies are questioning others.
