SCDOT to temporarily shutdown I-126 ramps to complete road, bridge work
Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Get ready to face some delays and congestion over the next few days as the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) working on some area roadways.
The transportation agency says they will temporarily close Interstate -126 ramps to traffic overnight as they work to rehabilitate roads and bridges at Colonial Life Boulevard. Officials say detours will be in place redirecting drivers to use the Greystone Boulevard/Riverbanks Zoo interchange at I-126.
Officials say this Eastbound on ramp will be impacted Monday August 19 beginning at 9 pm lasting until 6 am, and then again for the same time Tuesday August 20.
Transportation officials say they will also shutdown the Westbound off ramp to Colonial Life Boulevard Monday August 19 for similar rehabilitation over the course of two nights. Traffic will not be able to access the ramps from Monday August 19 from 9 pm to 6 am and again Tuesday August 20 from 9 pm until 6 am.
Transportation officials say all of the temporary closures are part of the first phase of the Carolina Crossroads Project.
