Richland County Library Opens New Sandhills Location
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C.(WOLO)-After more than a year of construction the Richand County Library finally opened its new Sandhills location Sunday afternoon.
The official ribbon cutting happened at the 30,000 square-foot structure located at 763 Fashion Drive, which is inside the Village at Sandhill. The building offers customers improved access to new releases, triple the amount of computers and the addition of Sunday hours.
“Libraries are so important in the 21st century because people really need to come together and share ideas and get information in a place that they trust,” Executive Director of Richland Library, Melanie Huggins said. “And that’s what libraries are about and the turnout today has been unbelievable.”
The upgrades are part of a more than $10 million project that was planned for the Sandhills location, made possible by Richland County residents with the passage of a $59 million bond referendum back in 2013.
