RCSD: Two detention center inmates overdose on unknown substance
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies are investigating after two inmates have overdosed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on Saturday, Aug. 17, says RCSD.
Deputies say around 6 p.m. on Saturday, they responded to the jail at the request of jail officials.
When Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived to the scene, they were informed that two inmates were taken to the medical bay for suspected drug overdose.
Also, deputies were informed that one of the inmates was taken to a local hospital to be checked out, and the other inmate recovered in the medical bay.
RCSD deputies say they searched the location which the inmates were found and discovered multiple unknown substances.
Both inmates have since recovered from the overdose, and investigators say pending further investigation neither of the inmates have been charged with a crime.
