COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- As the 89th Academy Awards were being celebrated in Los Angeles, here at home, Oscar fever lit up main street Sunday night.

The Nickelodeon Theatre in Columbia hosted a red carpet awards party.

“Whats better than putting Hollywood in Columbia on Oscar night,” red carpet host, Patti O’Furinture said.

Event goers watched Hollywood’s biggest night in surround sound in one if the theater rooms.

“Oscar night at the Nick is the Oscar party here in Columbia,” Patti O’Furinture said.

Once attendees walked in the Nickelodeon Theatre they instantly felt like Hollywood came to the Midlands.

“Seeing a lot of regulars who come in here all the time usually wearing a T-shirt and jeans after work or after a job come in three piece suits and beautiful dresses with their make up all done, I’m like look at you, this is going to be a party,” Assistant Theatre Director, Deborah Adedokun said.

“Its like hosting a party at your house but everyone is all dressed up, the foods a little bit better, the drinks are flowing and everybody is into it,” Nickelodeon Board member, Anne Postic said.

“The idea of coming to a party and being in the mix of things is just too good to pass up,” attendee Frenche Brewer said.

Back by popular demand, was Patti O’furniture keeping the crowd entertained during commercial breaks.

“Patti O’furniture and Larry Henry are pretty much the best thing,” Postic said. “They talk during the commercials. They’re like your best friend who is actually funny during the commercials.”
