Children’s Hospital Patient Uses Make-A-Wish Gift to Help Others

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)- We have all seen the touching stories of the dreams the Make-A-Wish Foundation is able to help come true but one Midlands teen did something that’s never been done in the Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital history.

Friday morning, 17-year-old Dean Frierson’s wish was to donate his gift help others. An avid video gamer, Dean gave his entire $5,000 gift to Child’s Play, a non-profit that gives toys and games to children’s hospitals across the country.

“Dean, wants to give something back and we are blessed  to have the people here at the hospital, just everybody taking care of him,  we can give something back to other people,” said Dean’s mom, Lydia Frierson.

The 17-year-old from Chapin is battling a rare form of cancer.
