Two kids dead after collision on highway in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)–  Two kids are dead after a collision on the highway in Orangeburg County, said highway patrol.

South Carolina Highway Patrol said a Freight liner collided with an ATV on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 7.

The collision happened on US Highway 601 near Scenic Drive, about five miles north of Orangeburg at around 4:20 p.m.

SCHP said a 2024 Freight liner that was pulling a trailer was traveling north on US Highway 601 when a 2020 Kawasaki ATV was attempting to cross the highway and was hit by the truck.

The rider and the passenger of the ATV, who were both children were pronounced dead at the scene.

Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified both the rider and the passenger as Ania Chalk, 8, of St Matthews and Jada Fludd, 16, of Orangeburg.
