Saluda County Coroner identifies person who died after Sunday collision

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)–  One person is dead after a collision in Saluda County, according to highway patrol.

It happened just after 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, on Pencreek Road near Dean Road. Which is about a mile south of Saluda.

SC Highway patrol said a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro appeared to have went off the right side of the road while traveling east, hit a ditch and fence before hitting two large trees and coming to rest in the yard of a home. 

The driver was the only one in the car and died at the scene. He was later identified by the Saluda County Coroner’s Office as Damion R. Gantt, age 30 of Saluda.

His autopsy has been scheduled for later this week. The collision is being investigated by the Coroner’s Office and the SC Highway Patrol.
