Columbia’s city buildings going solar

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– It may have been cloudy and rainy but we’re celebrating the sun today in Columbia.

This morning, Monday, Sept. 16, city leaders, Congressman Clyburn, and representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency announced a more than $8 million grant that will be used to install solar power at public buildings like the City of Columbia’s Wastewater Plant.

Officials say the project will also promote green infrastructure, urban forestry, and cool pavement pilot projects to reduce urban heat.
