Troopers: Driver dies after crashing into a tree on Kelly Mill Road

RICHLAND CO., S.C. (WOLO) –  South Carolina Highway Patrol says a driver is dead after crashing into a tree Wednesday morning.

It happened at Kelly Mill Road near the intersection with Old Kelly Mill Road at 7:25 a.m.

According to Master Trooper William Bennett, the driver of a 2019 Kia Sedan was travelling east on Old Kelly Mill Road, then travelled off to the right at the intersection, went down an embankment and struck a tree.

The driver was taken to the hospital where they later died from their injuries.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the victim.

Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
