Midlands pickleball team heading to D.C. for competitive event
WEST COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Pickleball draws athletes and non-athletes of all-ages out to play the social and friendly sport.
One pickleball team is heading to D.C. next weekend to play at a three-day event celebrating the sport.
In the past few years, pickleball has grown in popularity in the Midlands.
Edwin and his pickleball partner Stan head to DC in a week for the National Mall of Pickleball, a 3-day event celebrating the sport.
The team was one of six finalists selected and they will compete at the Ultimate Duo Challenge next Saturday.
However, their main passion is growing the sport of pickleball. Stan says that pickleball is a multi-generational sport for all ages and skill levels.
Pickleball seems easy to pick up, but it can be hard to perfect. While both have lots of experience, neither plans to take the Ultimate Duo Challenge in DC too seriously.
