Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Killed Elderly Woman
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)- The Columbia Police Department is asking for the publics help finding the driver involved in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 67-year-old woman Saturday night.
The incident happened last night at the 3600 block of Broad River Road.
As a result, the victim who’s been identified by Richland County Coroner’s Office as 67-year-old Alicesene Dear Gilmore of Hopkins died from blunt force trauma to the torso.
Medical staff pronounced Gilmore deceased shortly before midnight at a local hospital.
Initial information indicates that Gilmore and two relatives were walking from Trenton Court Apartments to a local store when a vehicle struck Gilmore and left the scene.
According to witnesses, the vehicle is possibly white. A surveillance picture of the car of interest has been released.
The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating.
