COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — It wasn’t the start the Blowfish planned, but Columbia’s college wooden bat summer league team got off to a good start at home. Home run king Hank Aaron was originally scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the last opening day at Capital City Stadium, but a scheduling conflict has pushed that date back to June 12th. The defending Coastal Plain League champion Blowfish managed just one hit but went on to beat the Gastonia Grizzlies 1-0. USC junior pitcher Hunter Privette picked up the win with three hitless innings of relief. The Blowfish play at home again Thursday night hosting Thomasville.
