Suspect Charged in Lexington Medical Center Incident
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Lexington County deputies have arrested Stephen Johnson Craft in connection with an officer involved shooting at Lexington Medical Center.
Deputies say Craft was arrested Thursday morning after he initiated a pursuit following his refusal to stop for blue lights and siren. Craft, 38, got out of his car on Beckman Road and was arrested after a short foot chase, according to Deputies. A warrant for his arrest on a charge of grand larceny had been issued earlier this month, say officials.
Craft is accused of hitting a security officer at Lexington Medical Center Thursday morning. Officials say the officer fired shots as he was struck by the car. Craft was not injured.
The officer’s injuries are not life threatening, say officials.
Craft is expected to appear in court for a bond hearing Friday morning at 10AM.
