Former trooper charged with criminal sexual conduct with young girl

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A former state trooper is charged with two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor after authorities say he engaged in sexual battery with a 13-year-old girl.

According to SLED officials, on multiple occasions between May 2016 and July 2016, 23-year-old Michael Harrison Perrotta sexually assaulted the victim at locations in Saluda and Lexington counties.

Perrotta had been with the South Department of Public Safety since January 2016, he was terminated on April 24.

According to officials with the SCDPS, Perrotta’s termination was for arrest or indictment for alleged violation of federal or state law and improper conduct/conduct unbecoming a state employee.

He was assigned to Troop 2, Post C which included Edgefield, McCormick and Saluda counties.

Perrotta could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
