In our profession (journalism), the best advice for writer’s block is to keep writing.

For baseball players painfully enduring a hitting slump, the advice is much the same: keep swinging.

Alex Destino, one the Gamecocks’ best hitters the last two seasons, entered Wednesday night’s game against Wofford batting just .119 in his last 19 starts. Things got so bad for Destino, he was benched Saturday and Sunday against Kentucky.

But with a new haircut and another start, Destino would take advantage.

In the bottom of the 8th Wednesday night against the Terriers, Destino blasted a two-run home run to right field. It was so far, the ball hit the street.

You can say, he’s out of that slump now.
