Gamecock Student-Athletes Set For Graduation This Weekend

COLUMBIA, S.C. (USC SID) – South Carolina Athletics celebrates 104 current and former student-athletes who will participate in graduation ceremonies this weekend at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks have continued to excel in the classroom during the 2016-17 school year, as 90 student-athletes were named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, while 78 earned a spot on the Winter Honor Roll. Student-athletes completed another semester of achievement in the classroom last fall, as the group combined for a departmental GPA of 3.245, marking the 20th-consecutive semester that the Gamecocks combined for a GPA above 3.0.

South Carolina was also recognized nationally for its success in the classroom, as the NCAA released its multiyear Academic Progress Rate report earlier this week, where it was announced that seven Gamecock programs — baseball, men’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s basketball, women’s swimming and diving and volleyball – were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement. These teams posted scores in the top 10 percent of their sport on APR numbers that represent the combination of scores from 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
