Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Car in Richland County

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO)- Richland County Coroner, Gary Watts, released the name of the individual motorcyclist who died after crashing into a car on Garners Ferry Road Saturday night.

Watts said, Maurice Shaw, 44, was driving a Suzuki motorcycle when he crashed into a Chevy that was attempting to make a left turn out of a driveway on Garners Ferry Road, in the Eastover area.

Shaw was taken to an area hospital after being thrown from the bike, according to troopers. He was not wearing a helmet and died.

Watts said Shaw died from head trauma.

The SC Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

The driver of the Chevy was wearing a seatbelt and not injured during the wreck.
