BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WPDE) — Deputies have been searching for a missing eight-year-old girl after her mother was found dead in her home on Friday morning.

ABC 15 sat down with Iyana Lowery’s grandmother, Delores Lowery, Saturday and she pleaded for someone to bring her home.

“I walked in and found my daughter dead and my grandbaby is missing. Please if anyone knows anything at all please don’t hesitate,” Delores Lowery said.

Lowery said Iyana lived in the Bennettsville home with her, her brother and her mother, Ella Lowery.

Police found woman’s young son, who was with a relative, but can’t find the little girl.

“She’s a very sweet intelligent little girl. She’s in the second grade. She loves doing a lot of thing. She loves her mother,” Lowery said.

Iyana Lowery was discovered missing Friday and her grandmother last saw her Thursday.

“Thursday night I kissed her, I always kiss her before I go to work and I always give her a kiss and say ‘grandma love you, have a good day at school’ and she [says] ‘okay grandma,'” Lowery said.

The Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office is using a helicopter in the search. It circled the area for about an hour Saturday afternoon.

Sherirff Charles Lemon said they want to make sure they don’t miss any possible clues. The FBI also uses the chopper flight to map out a more clear search area.

Delores Lowery said the support of her family and church family is what is getting her through.

“It really picks me up knowing that my family, my friends, my church family, every one is right here for me and trust me at a time like that like what I’m going through now believe me it’s very important,” Lowery said.

Iyana Lowery is 4 feet 2 inches and about 100 pounds. If you have any information about her disappearance the Marlboro county sheriff’s office says to call them at 843-479-5605 or 911.

The sheriff’s department said they have gone door to door for the past two days talking with all the neighbors in the community.
