Driver killed after hitting a tree overnight on SC-763 in Sumter

SUMTER CO., S.C. (WOLO) – Highway Patrol says a driver has died in an overnight collision in Sumter.

Master Trooper Gary Miller says it happened on SC-763 at Keels Road at approximately 2:28 a.m.

According to Master Trooper Miller, the driver of a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sedan ran through a stop sign, went off the road and struck a tree.

The driver died from their injuries.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the driver.

Highway Patrol is investigating this incident.
