Best-selling author Dr. Matthew Desmond’s keynote lecture this Friday at USC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Best-selling author & sociologist is coming to the University of South Carolina for a big event!

His keynote lecture on his latest book Poverty, by America, starts this Friday from 10 a.m. – Noon at the Pastides Alumni Center at 900 Senate St.

A book signing will follow after the lecture from Noon to 1 p.m.

Curtis spoke with Donna Waites, President of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of SC & Dr. Lee Pearson of the USC Arnold School of Public Health; both organizations are sponsoring this event.

They say that Dr. Desmond will speak about important findings in his new book that seek to dispel myths of poverty and find solutions.
