Richland County man sentenced to prison for having child sexual abuse material
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Richland County man has plead guilty to 3 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree, said the AG’s Office.
Agents with SC Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services say on October 1, 2023, they conducted a probation compliance operation at Reed’s home in Richland County.
Also, agents said Reed was arrested because he tested positive for drugs, and his room was searched.
Two cell phones were seized, and pictures of child sexual abuse material were found on the phones.
A search of the devices seized under a search warrant was conducted that revealed 402 files of child sexual abuse material, said investigators.
A judge sentenced Reed to 8 years at the South Carolina Department of Corrections with credit for 401 days he’s already served.
He consented to the forfeiture of his devices, and was already on the sex offender registry from a previous conviction, and will now be a Tier III sex offender.
