Lexington Police ask drivers to ‘be respectful’ of other drivers after working 2 collisions on same road Thursday
Lexington, SC (WOLO) — The Lexington Police Department is asking drivers to take the petal off the metal after working two accidents in the same area. Around 6:30pm Thursday night police say they responded to the second collision along the 5200 block of Augusta Road just before it intersects with Interstate 20 interchange. Details of what caused those crashes are still being investigated by authorities at this time.
One thing police say they do know is that drivers are putting themselves at a higher risk of being involved in similar incidents when they allow themselves to become distracted, fail to pay full attention to the road, and when they are not respectful of the other drivers who are also out on the highways and byways.
Police say they can understand the need some people have to get home after as quickly as possible after a long day out and about. But it is always better to get to your destination safely as opposed to getting there as fast as you can.
At last check, Police said emergency personnel were still on the scene of the collision and are asking people who are traveling through the area to be aware and use caution as crews remain on scene as they work to clear the roadway. Stay with ABC Columbia for updates on air and online.
