Deputies: Man arrested in connection with death of newborn

Kershaw Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Kershaw Co. deputies say Timothy Staggers, 21, is charged with Homicide by Child Abuse.

According to investigators, on July 25th Staggers took his unresponsive 2-month old daughter to the hospital.

The child died from her injuries.

According to a final autopsy report completed on November 25th, the newborn died from non-accidental head trauma at the hands of another, rib fractures, and a fracture in her leg.

“Kershaw County mourns the loss of a sweet, innocent baby girl. She did not live long enough to say her first word.” said Sheriff Lee Boan. “Her autopsy is the only way she can speak to us now. We are listening and responding the best way we can by seeking justice for her.”
