Sheriff: Arrest Made in “Senseless” Fatal Shooting

ORANGEBURG, SC (WOLO) – An arrest has been made and charges were filed Monday (8/7), in a shooting that killed a man Saturday morning.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office announced Curran Jennings, 37, had his first appearance in court Monday where he was formally charged with murder.

The shooting happened on Whittaker Parkway around 12:20 a.m. Witnesses said they heard .

According to a news release from OCSO, witnesses said Jennings saw a man approach his truck, which was parked across the street.  As the man drew closer to Jennings’ truck, Jennings began walking in the direction of the truck and man.  Gunshots were heard and witnesses saw a man lying on the ground. Jennings is said to have left the area but investigators were able to talk to him via a phone call and later an interview.

“This was just senseless,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “Two grown men couldn’t work out any differences they may have had?”
